We’re in the midst of the holiday season and sooner rather than later, we’ll be ringing in the new year. And with New Year’s always comes New Year’s Resolutions. It’s time for a fresh start, and those resolutions can be personal, health-related, work-related – or maybe even activity-specific.
This month, we’re going to discuss a few New Year’s Resolutions for your swimming pools – so that you get off to a strong, exciting start to 2024. Let’s jump right in!
Review your pool safety
Pools are here for fun and relaxation, but they can also be dangerous when people don’t know how to act and behave around them. Be sure – for the sake of everyone – that you take the time to sit down with your loved ones and run down the do’s and don’ts of being around the pool. Run over your family rules. Consider having everyone take a CPR course. Pools are fun, but to have fun – safety needs to be at the front of mind.
Enjoying your pool more, and spend less time working on it
Too many pool owners get too wrapped up in things like water chemistry and day-to-day maintenance when they could spend more time enjoying it. We’re not telling you to neglect your pool, but be a little better at working smarter, not harder. Preschedule things like chemical balancing. Spread maintenance out into more digestible hunks. Delegate to family members. Heck, sign up for a monthly maintenance plan if you can afford it. Whatever you do – spend the time in your pool the way you want to; not just the way you have to.
Improvements
Unless you’ve got deep pockets- getting your pool in its final state right off an install is rare. Most people get their pools installed and gradually add things to it over time. Most – try to make a point to make an upgrade every year. Sometimes it’s something fun like a new diving board, slide or patio area or perhaps it’s something more to the function of the pool – like a new cover, new liner or some concrete work. Whatever it is – each new addition is a step towards your dream space.
Involve your family and friends more
Swimming pools are not just a place for a little relaxation – they’re also communal spaces that we use to create memories with the people who matter the most to us. So host a bbq, share your space and go create those memories we’re talking about. And that goes past just talking about the pool, too. That’s in life. We’re social animals – take advantage of what you have!
