So we’re officially almost a month into the New Year and as is the usual around this time – we make resolutions about certain things whether its habits we want to break or behaviors we’d like to change. When it comes to your swimming pool, it shouldn’t be any different!
Here are some resolutions you can make to have a happier and healthier swimming pool in the New Year.
Restore more
Keeping up with your pool’s maintenance schedule can seem like a pain, but that doesn’t mean it has to be. Make a plan that covers specifically what you need to do and when. And if your pool is a little longer in the tooth, you might want to consider one bigger project a year to make it more do-able.
Be on the lookout for things like replacement pool parts like skimmers, steps, ladders, lights and the like. Especially spare components – of which you can find at great prices if you keep an eye open. That way when something does go wrong, you’ll be ready!
Just like homes, your pools need constant maintenance so take the time to do some advance planning and you’ll be better prepared when something goes wrong.
Pool safety
There’s never a bad time to recommit yourself to pool safety. Make sure you check your fences, pools gates, latches, safety covers, alarms and the like. Make sure drain covers are on tight and we strongly recommend that you have a ten minute conversation with your family about the do’s and don’ts of living around a pool – especially if you have kids. Pools are a ton of fun, but they can be a real hazard if people don’t take the time to think about their behavior around it. Err on the side of caution and be careful about what you do.
Have more fun
We’re serious. A lot of times people get caught up in a whole rash of maintenance things and all the serious responsibilities that come along with owning a pool; totally forgetting why they got one in the first place. Host a neighborhood party, invite friends over, host a birthday party – whatever you want. Try to commit two hours per week to doing nothing but hanging out at the pool. Even break that down into healthy and fun time – maybe an hour exercising and an hour having fun every week. Whatever it is, try to get more out of the space. They truly are wonderful investments.
Spring is right around the corner and that means it’ll be pool time soon! Good luck and hopefully these resolutions will get you off to the best start possible!
