The hidden health benefits of swimming pools part-1

Americans are more health conscious than ever before. As such, we’re constantly on the lookout for new ways to shave pounds, keep the calories down and stay in shape. It’s always best though – when we can combine that with a little less ‘working out’ and a lot more ‘having fun.’

Swimming pools come with a wide range of benefits – the most important of which may be the health benefits that come with it. In fact – pools can do wonders for your health – and that’s what we’re here to discuss today. Here are some of the ways that pools are good for your health and what you can look forward to should you decide to make the investment.

Let’s jump right in!

A great way to burn calories

Swimming is an incredible workout – especially for people looking to lose weight. Swimming is a full body workout and not only does it help burn off the calories – but swimming also aids in better cardio health, increases flexibility and builds tolerance to more rigorous workouts. Some even say that for those looking to lose weight – the pool should be the first place they go.

Less wear and tear on the body

This is more of a sub script from above – but swimming puts significantly less wear and tear on the body than traditional excersise like jogging and pushups do. In fact according to researchers – swimming causes 75% LESS stress than other forms of workouts. Especially for older people who are frequent victims of muscle strain and issues with joints – swimming can be an excellent way to stay in shape safely.

Great for your mental health

Our health isn’t just how good our body looks. In fact, it’s arguably just as – If not more important – to feel better about yourself. Swimming has been proven to help ease the effects of anxiety and psychological stress. It also helps you relax more in the day to day – as a quick dip in the pool after work can really be a great way to escape the stresses of the day. Water also helps trigger endorphins that help stimulate your body due to your general weightlessness in water.

Getting social

While thinking about health is important – an often overlooked aspect of it is being more social. For one, we’re social animals. Our ability to interact and work together is what’s put us at the top of the food chain. More importantly – the point of owning a pool is to have fun. If you’re not enjoying it with the people who matter the most, then what are we all doing here? Pools are to be enjoyed by all and everyone enjoying the pool will lead to a better you.
